When Students Seek Evaluation
Students may seek evaluation when prior learning, attention, psychological, medical, or neurodevelopmental concerns may affect standardized testing under timed or structured conditions.
High-stakes exams may include the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, bar exams, or other professional and licensing examinations.
Documentation and Functional Impact
Documentation requirements vary by testing organization. A comprehensive evaluation may help clarify whether accommodations are clinically supported, but accommodations are not guaranteed.
Assessment should reflect developmental history, prior supports, current functional impact, objective test data, and consistency across records and reported concerns.
Neutral, Data-Driven Evaluation
The evaluator’s role is to provide objective clinical information, diagnostic impressions when supported, and recommendations based on the data.
Final accommodation decisions are made by the testing organization or licensing body.
